whatever you want

November 3, 2010

With the release of the State Vs Radric Davis, Gucci Mane in my (squinty) eyes transformed himself from a joke rapper with a silly name to a serious player in the game.

Prestigous on the mixtape scene and like fellow southern rapper Slim Thug, a real life hustler on the streets, Gucci has come a long way from his So Icey days and long term beef with fellow Atlien and btb favourite  Young Jeezy.  In many ways both rappers are very similar, styling their own infectious hooks over bass heavy thumpers with the major exception being that the Snowman has had more commercial backing from Def Jam and hereby, more success.

Having been recently freed from jail, you would think with the release of his new album that the Sky’s The Limit for Gucci. You would think he would be all set to pick up from where he left off and reach the big time Spotlight. You would think WRONG.

As with T.I, it seems that he has violated his parole (again) and faces another spell in the nick. Having become very familiar with the law in his lifetime, it is strange to think  he thought it was ok to be caught driving without a license & insurance, on the wrong side of the road, speeding through red lights and damaging government property. Perhaps he likes his life behind bars like Red in Shawshank. Perhaps he didn’t want his FREE GUCCI tees to experience a sales decline. More likely there is a shortage of chauffeurs in Atlanta.

Anyway, everybody likes to turn their swag on now and again and sticking a Gucci track on while Ridin’ Dirty is the perfect way to do it, so I hope you like the following tracks.
